14 Robert CLEMENT the pioneer of Haverhill, Mass. and 14 Lydia DRUMMER came from England in 1642, landing at Salisbury, from whence he went to Haverhill, Mass., sometime in the following summer with his wife Lydia and four children, John, Lydia, Robert, and Sarah. His son Job had come over in 1640/1641 and his daughter Mary remained in England until 16_2. The Clements for a ling time occupied a prominent position in town and county and their descendants have been prominent citizens. He was one of the five to take the deed of the town from the Passagut and Saggahew Indians in 1642. Robert Clement's name stands second next to John Ward's on the agreement with the Indians for the purchase of the Town-ship. He was the first Deputy of the town to the General Court. He was a man of rare integrity and superior talents and was repeatedly called to fill responsible stations. He was influential and wealthy in that community, and the owner of the first grist mill. He eventually came to own an island in the Merrimack River that is still known as Clements Island.[see: Chase's Hist. of Haverhill.]

13 John Bean or MacBayne Socttland to New Hampshire. John Bean, the immigrant acestor, orignially MacBean or MacBayne, was a Scotechman, said to be son of donald MacBayne, and born in scotland. There is reason to believe that he was one of the Scotich taken prisoner by Cromwell at the battle of Worcester or some of the other victories that he won over the Royalists and Scotch froces.

If the family tradition is correct Bean was with his wife who died on the voyage over. Possibly he returned for her, after making a home. According to the same family tradition he married for his second wife a daughter of a passenger who came on the same ship. We find him settled in Exeter, New Hampshire, before 1660. He took the oath of allegiance and fidelity.

13 William OSGOOD came to this country in company with the family of the emigrant John in the ship 'Confidence' which sailed from Southampton, England, April 11, 1638.

Your ancestor and my ancestor (William Thorne)were on the same boat trip across the Atlantic in 1638. Just saying hi (and looking for a picture of painting of the Confidence)!
