George Ensign SMITH


George Ensign SMITH as a boy.
Ensign was born 24 Mar 1898 in Logan, Cache, Utah
His father was Isaac SMITH who was the son of
Samuel SMITH and Sarah Jane INGRAM.
Ensign's mother was Harriett Camilla ENSIGN,
Camilla was the daughter of Martin Luther ENSIGN and Mary DUNN.

George Ensign SMITH (known as Ensign) was a 4th generation Mormon.
His parents who were born in Utah before the train, were Mormon Pioneers.
(See DUP definition of Pioneer.) His four grandparents had all live in Nauvoo. Six of his eight great grandparents had also lived in Nauvoo. Ensign's grandmother Sarah Jane INGRAM SMITH had been a little girl orphan in Nauvoo. Both her parents had died near St. Louis when they arrive from England on their way to Nauvoo. They left three small children. Ensign's great grandfather Simeon Adams DUNN's home is still standing in Nauvoo, IL. Great grandfather Daniel William SMITH and great grandmother Adaline RAWSON DUNN are both buried in the old Nauvoo cemetery. Grandfather Martin Luther ENSIGN with his parents and siblings only live there a couple weeks before moving on to Winter Quarters, where Martlin's father Horace Datus ENSIGN died.
