Kirt D. WOOD
OREM-Kirt DeMar Wood, age 63, died on Novemeber 26, 1987 at his home in Orem, Utah of multiple Myeloma.
He was born on December 12, 1923 in Hurrican[e], Utah, son of John Andrew and Laura Elizabeth Parker Wood. He married Camilla Smith on June 11, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He received his early education in the Salt Lake City schools, and his B.S. degree in Education and his M.S. degree in Education Administration from the University of Utah. He was an active member of the LDS Church, Orem 77th Ward, and was a high priest serving as secretary of the High Priest Quorum. He had served as president and as a teacher in the elders Quorum. He had also served as sunday School president and as a Sunday School teacher. Mr. Wood taught 5th and 6th grades at the Granger and Twin Peaks Elementary schools in the Granite School district for 30 years. He was a sponsor of the Twin Peaks elementary school chess club. Kirt was a veteran of World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. He enjoyed skiing, chess, poetry and [racquetball.] He has been president of the Orem [Racquetball] Club.
He is survived by his wife, Camilla, of Orem, Utah; two sons , [one now serving a mission],and four daughters;... 21 grandchildren; one brother..., two sisters Delna W. Alvey of North Las Vegas, Nevada; Iris W. Peterson of McKinleyville, California.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 30, 1987 at 12 noon at the Orem 77th Ward LDS Chapel...
