3rd great grand uncle - Robert Marion BELL was born 2 Apr 1839 in Mifflin, Crawford Co., Eastridge Crawford County Death Book. He was the son of Samuel W BELL and Sarah Elizabeth YATES. Robert married Catherine SHAFFER 20 Mar 1856.








3rd great grand uncle - Richard Dennis CURL was born 8 JUN 1842 in Harrison Co., Indiana, and died 4 Oct 1935 in Crawford Co., Indiana. He was the son of Richard B. CURL and Mariah STEPRO. He married Emma CRUSE 29 Sep 1868 in Crawford County, Indiana. She was born 11 Sep 1853 in Crawford Co., Indiana, and died 18 Sep 1909 in Crawford Co., Indiana. Richard and Emma had 10 children. Richard was a veteran of Civil War. He did not like to talk about the war. Served in Company H 81st Indiana Regiment. FHL#1377977, Deeds of Crawford Co, Ind, listed as one of the heirs of father, but living in Gibson Co, Ind in 1883.



1st cousin 4 times removed - Victor Frank FROMAN was born 1831 in Crawford Co, Indiana. He was the son of Abraham FROMAN and Mildred "Milly" ROBERSON. He married Mary PLUMER 5 Jun 1851 in Crawford Co., IN. She was born 1831 in Indiana. [4th great grandparents Jacob FROMAN Jr. and Margaret Mary DAWSON in common.]








husband of 1st cousin 4 times removed - David Daniel GRANT was born 8 Jul 1832 in Harrison Co., IN, and died 26 Nov 1899 in Crawford Co., In. He was buried in Grant Roberson Cem-Grantsburg. He was the son of Levi GRANT and Sarah F. POTTS. He married Hesther G. ROBERSON 17 Jan 1856 in Crawford Co., In, daughter of Thomas Jefferson ROBERSON and Nancy M. FROMAN. She was born 19 Dec 1839, and died 25 Jul 1908. [4th great grandparents Daniel ROBERSON and Esther Ada YATES in common.]





2nd great grandfather - Fielding ROBERSON was born 21 May 1838 in Crawford Co., In, and died 5 Sep 1924 in Crawford Co., IN. He was buried in Hamilton Roberson Cem, English, IN. He was the son of James ROBERSON and Fannie Eliza FROMAN. He married Mary Ann DENBO 28 Sep 1873 in Crawford Co., IN. She was born 6 MAY 1857, and died 26 Sep 1916 in Crawford Co., IN. She was buried in Hamilton Roberson Cem, English, IN. Pvt. Co. E, 28th Regt. (1st Cav.) Ind Vol; age 24; Eyes blue, hair light, 5'7", complexion light; Mustered in April 4 1862 in Indianapolis, IN; transferred to Co. B. re-organized; m/o March 5 1865. [Fielding had three horses shot from under him during the battles. He was captured, at Vicksburg, later he escaped with a spoon.]


1st cousin 4 times removed - George W. ROBERSON Pvt., Co. E, 38th Ind. Inf. Vol.; mustered in at age 20 on October 11 1861; m/o July 15 1865; In battles at Perryville, Stone River, Hoover's Gap, Chickamauga, Lookout Mountain, siege of Atlanta, Jonesboro and with Sherman in march to the sea. GEORGE W. ROBERTSON was born in Crawford County, Ind., June 18, 1842, and is a son of George W. and Sarah (Kintner) Robertson, the former a native of Kentucky, and a son of Daniel Robertson, of Virginia, who came to Kentucky in 1799 and to Indiana in 1820; the latter a daughter of John Kintner and a native of Washington County, Pa., whose family came to Indiana at a very early day.


George W. was raised on a farm, and educated in the common schools. At the age of 18 he enlisted in Co. E, Thirty-eighth Indiana Volunteer Infantry, in which he served for three years and seven months. At the end of three years he veteranized, and remained in the service until the close of the war, participating in all the battles in which his regiment engaged, the most important of which were Perryville, Stone River, Hoover's Gap, Chickamauga, Lookout Mountain (the battle above the clouds), siege of Atlanta, Jonesboro, and was with Sherman in his "march to the sea"; was present at the surrender of Gen. Joe Johnston. He saw the war in all its phases, was in many close places, but returned home without receiving the slightest wound. 1st cousin 4 times removed - Co. H, 81st Ind Volunteers; Henry Clay ROBERSON was born 25 JUL 1844 in Crawford, IN, and died 23 JUL 1930 in Grantsburg, Crawford, IN. He was the son of 2. George William ROBERSON and 3. Sarah A. KINTER. He married Sarah Jane LANDISS 29 NOV 1869 in Crawford Co., IN, daughter of Joseph Kinkaid (Joel) LANDISS and Mary Elizabeth ROBERSON. She was born 5 AUG 1852, and died 25 DEC 1939.

4th great grand uncle - William YATES was born 1820 in Crawford Co., IN. He was the son of Robert YATES and Mary Ann BYARS. He married Rachel HUGHES 24 Dec 1840 in Crawford Co., IN. She was born 1822 in Harrison Co., IN.
